Ángel Manuel Vivar Dorado (born 12 February 1974 in Madrid) is a retired Spanish professional footballer who played mainly as an attacking midfielder.
In a 18-year professional career, he represented mainly Getafe (five seasons), Tenerife (four) and Racing de Santander (four), appearing in 423 games with 46 goals both major levels of Spanish football combined - 296/23 in La Liga alone.
Born in Madrid, Vivar Dorado began his career at local CD Leganés in the third division in 1992, with which he achieved second level promotion in his first season. In 1994–95, he left to join CD Tenerife in the top flight.
In 1998, Vivar Dorado moved to Real Racing Club de Santander and, despite their top level relegation in 2000, stayed with the club, before joining Rayo Vallecano (also playing in the category) in January 2002.[1] This was to be another short stay, as he was to move to second division's Getafe CF in July, helping the capital side attain a first-ever top flight promotion in 2003–04, with the player making 150 league appearances (first and second divisions) with the club before switching to Real Valladolid, in July 2007.[2]
On 6 January 2008, Vivar Dorado scored twice as Valladolid emerged victorious at former club Getafe, 3–0.[3] He automatically earned a one-year extension after playing the minimum games required, being released at the end of his second year, aged 35. He quickly agreed a move to second level's Albacete Balompié; however, he arrived injured and, after no official appearances for the Castile-La Mancha side, was released from contract, in January 2010, retiring shortly after.
